Over 400 members of the public have signed up to receive the City newsletter as a result of a local campaign designed to raise awareness amongst residents about the ongoing regeneration of Hull city centre. Funded by the contributions made by members of Hull's Bondholder scheme, a network of businesses working together to promote the city, 30,000 'fold-out' leaflets were produced by local agency RMP Design and distributed in 45 locations across Hull and the surrounding area. The campaign was primarily aimed at residents in the East Riding to encourage them to take advantage of the expanding retail and leisure offer as opposed to travelling to cities such as York, Meadowhall and Leeds. John Holmes, Chief Executive at Hull Forward, commented: 'The campaign has been hugely successful in showcasing how far the city has come over recent years in terms of its development by providing a snapshot of what is currently on offer as well as what is planned for the future. Feedback shows that members of the public are keen to support Hull's future and are genuinely pleased to see that steps had been taken to actively promote the city. There is a wealth of information available about Hull's regeneration on the www.hull.co.uk website and members of the public are urged to sign up to the newsletter to find out more about what's happening in their city.' He added: 'Particularly in the current economic climate it is important that we do not lose sight of the city's success by reminding ourselves of the significant progress that has been made. The campaign highlighted that there were some concerns about the impact that the current economic challenges may have on future developments and provided a good opportunity to show people that a number of initiatives are progressing well. This year alone we are welcoming the opening of the new hotel on the East Bank of the River Hull as well as the new state-of-the-art facility for Hull Truck Theatre, which will add significantly to the city's cultural offer.' Charles Milner, Managing Director of Anlaby-based RMP Design said: 'We were delighted to have been appointed to work on this high profile project in the face of competition from a number of agencies. While we welcome any account gains, it is particularly satisfying to work on a project such as this which raises the profile of the city and helps boost the local economy.' 'This campaign presented our team with a tough creative challenge. The brief required us to communicate a large amount of information in a concise manageable promotional item. The fold-out Z-Card was an ideal solution. We always aim to provide a high level of creativity combined with common sense and practicality to deliver results driven marketing solutions. The success of this campaign shows the benefits of this approach.' The handy pocket-sized leaflets were also made available to pick up from various locations across the city and surrounding area at venues such as health and fitness centres, café bars, hairdressers, restaurants, hotels and tourist attractions.
